1001 STORIES
How I helped turn 1001 Nights into the world’s largest sand sculpture park.

THE CHALLENGE
For the final season of P2BK, the ambition was bigger than creating another public event.
The goal was to create a destination.
A world people could walk through, remember, and talk about long after the festival ended.

THE OPPORTUNITY
1001 Nights is one of the most iconic storytelling universes in Arab culture.
Its characters, adventures, palaces, treasures, and legends have survived for centuries.
The opportunity was to transform those stories from imagination into a physical experience at a scale never attempted before.
THE IDEA
Rebuild the world of 1001 Nights as the world’s largest sand sculpture village.
Not as an exhibition.
Not as a collection of sculptures.
As a living story visitors could explore.
Every path, sculpture, scene, and landmark would become part of a larger narrative journey inspired by one of the region’s greatest cultural treasures.
THE EXECUTION
The experience was designed around a simple transformation.
By day, visitors explored a vast village of monumental sand sculptures inspired by the stories, characters, architecture, and mythology of 1001 Nights.
By night, the environment transformed through light, shadow, and spectacle, turning the village into an immersive theatrical experience.
The result was a destination that evolved from sculpture to storytelling, from art installation to living fantasy.
THE SCALE
Delivering the project required balancing creative ambition with operational complexity.
The festival brought together more than 300 business and government participants, each with different requirements, expectations, and objectives.
The challenge was not only creating something visually extraordinary, but ensuring it functioned as a cultural attraction, public destination, business platform, and large-scale event simultaneously.

THE CRAFT
Scale alone does not create impact.
Story does.
Every sculpture was designed to feel connected to a larger narrative.
Every zone became a chapter.
Every lighting sequence added emotion.
Every visitor journey was carefully considered to maintain immersion from beginning to end.
The objective was never to build a collection of sand sculptures.
It was to build a world.
THE OUTCOME
Remal became the world’s largest sand sculpture park and the landmark finale of P2BK.
More importantly, it demonstrated how heritage, entertainment, art, and public experience could be brought together at monumental scale without losing cultural authenticity.
Visitors did not simply view sculptures.
They stepped inside a story.
LOOKING BACK
For me, Remal was never about sand.
It was about possibility.
The possibility of taking a cultural legacy that had lived for centuries in books and imagination, and rebuilding it as a physical experience people could walk through.
The final season of P2BK did not simply end.
It ended with a world.
Carved from sand.
Powered by imagination.
Inspired by stories that have survived for more than a thousand nights.
